Description

Whether you’re a seasoned backcountry adventurer, a side country slayer, or looking to get out on your first adventure, reviewing and testing your skills of the essential equipment is pivotal to returning from an escape to the mountains. Please note all courses include a $20 donation to go toward mountain education for a less fortunate community member.

Travel in the backcountry begins with a firm foundation in the theory and use of essential rescue/retrieval equipment.  In the Prival Building Blocks course you begin with an overview of the following:

  • Terrain mitigation

  • How to use an avalanche forecast and weather observations to formulate backcountry travel plans

  • Hands on work with our instructors and trained professional athletes

  • Learning the theory and techniques for properly using an avalanche beacon, probe, and shovel

  • In a controlled environment, simulate single and multiple burial scenarios, learning how to efficiently and effectively locate and extract a buried victim

This course is two and a half hours long and standing outside for the duration is required. Demo beacons, probes, and shovels are available upon request.

Remember in the event of an avalanche CPR and or first aid is almost always issued. Continuing your education into proper basic life support and advanced avalanche safety skills is a must.  We look forward to helping you begin your quest for knowledge towards the backcountry avalanche chain of survival.

All Courses are Private and available with a minimum of four students and maximum of Six. Please call to inquire. 801-441-8731

All course sign ups directly benefit the Prival Foundations Mission
