Rock Climbing Partner Ropes Rescue Course
Based on similar principles of ‘plan and prepare’ as avalanche education, this 24-hour course is for experienced climbers looking for a comprehensive partner rescue course based on industry standard guiding and rescue practices. This is NOT a guide training course, but is for avid climbers that want to learn and practice these skill sets in a well-managed setting, and be a proficient, prepared partner.
Objective: The 24-hour Partner Rock Rescue course is offered to previously experienced climbers to increase your self-sufficiency in the mountains. We hope to increase your technical skills to better anticipate and implement partner self-rescue in rock climbing terrain. Course content includes theoretical knowledge and practical application of:

Efficient belay management

Simple rope systems for ascending, descending and lowering

Partner assists and rescue from above (top-rope and top-belay systems)

Leader assists and rescue from below
The Seven Course Modular Format is available and broken into the following:

I. Session #1: Self-rescue Primer (3hour)

II. Session #2: Ropes, knots, hitches and devices for rescue (3hour)

III. Session #3: Rope ascent, descent & lowers (3hour)

IV. Session #4: Load transfers and hauling systems (3hour)

V. Session #5: Top-Belay Management (3hour)

VI. Session #6: Top-Rope Belay Management (3hour)

VII. Session #7: Leader Rescue Scenario (6hour)
Participant Prerequisites:
-
Can lead climb and belay (as verified by gym or SPI assessment) on technical rock climbing terrain

Can construct reliable, equalized, focal-point anchors using bolts, natural and/or removable anchors

Have experience leading and belaying partners on multi-pitch climbing routes

Possess basic personal protective equipment for multi-pitch climbing
Scope: Partner Rescue is NOT a guide or instructor’s course, but includes techniques and applications used in professionally accredited climbing instructor and guide training programs, backcountry rescue programs, and in the manufacturer’s Instructions For Use (IFU) of personal protective equipment.
